Beaubassin-est Tree of Hope Lighting at the Père-Edgar-T.-LeBlanc School

The Beaubassin-est Rural Community and the Père-Edgar-T.-LeBlanc School in Grand-Barachois, held the Tree of Hope Lighting on Thursday, November 16th in front of the school. Many people from the community attended the ceremony where speeches were given by Mayor Ronnie Duguay, Chair of the BCS Trio Tree of Hope Committee, Tina Mazerolle, Vice-President Westmorland on the Provincial Cabinet from the Tree of Hope, Cheryl LeBlanc, School Principal Pierrette Gallant and Student Council President Xavier Boutot.

The Knights of Columbus of Grand-Barachois took the opportunity to present a $500 donation to the Tree of Hope Campaign. The 1st and 2nd Princesses of the Miss Teen Beaubassin-est contest, Gabrielle Vautour and Audrée Doiron, collected donations for the school's campaign and raised nearly $100, in addition to selling several tickets for the draw that will be held on Sunday, November 19th at the Tree of Hope Lighting of the Village of Cap-Pelé.

The school choir, under the direction of Louisette Godbout, was also present to perform some songs. Deputy Mayor Susan Cormier then introduced the people who agreed to proceed with the Lighting of the Tree of Hope this year, Councillor André Bourque and his son Luc, as well as Mayor Ronnie Duguay, who have all been affected by cancer. The evening was a success! The campaign continues and we encourage people to be generous!
