$3,700.00 raised at the 1st Annual Mayors' Supper for the Tree of Hope

The BCS Trio Tree of Hope Committee would like to thank everyone who attended the First Mayors` Supper for the Tree of Hope on Sunday, October 29th at the Grand-Barachois Hall. “Thanks to the amazing turn out and great support, we have raised $3,700.00, says Cheryl LeBlanc, Westmorland VP / Provincial Cabinet for the Tree of Hope and member of the BCS Trio Tree of Hope Committee. “Thanks to all the volunteers who helped us, especially the volunteers from the Grand-Barachois Hall, they were just amazing and very organized!”

The major sponsor was Allain & Associés, and the following made a monetary donation to help make this a huge success: Boudreau`s Electric & Alarm Ltd., RC Auto Sales, Bastarache Auto Salvage and Shediac Esthetics Salon. The committee also wants to thank the following who donated either money, supplies or their time: Bib Gallant, IGA-Coop, Nadia Fontaine Richard from Expedia Cruise Ship Centre, Canada Bread - René Babin, Vitos, Stephanie Belliveau and Ryan Hebert for distributing the flyers, Jean Coutu in Shediac and Cap-Pele who sold tickets, and Germaine who donated water. And let’s not forget the Mayors of Cap-Pelé, Beaubassin-est and Shediac and their Council members for helping out and giving out their time.

And last but not least, the wonderful members of the BCS Trio Tree of Hope Committee. “They did an amazing job organizing this event and in giving their time, heart and soul”, adds Cheryl LeBlanc. “Thank you to our families, friends, and co-workers who continue to support us.”

This money will be added to the funds already raised by the committee, like the $1,900 raised with the first edition of the Walk of Hope at the Aboiteau Beach in Cap-Pelé. Members of the Trio BCS committee organize other fundraising activities; you may have seen the small green trees sold in some local businesses, and they also sell tickets for a prize draw to be held at the Tree of Hope Lighting in Cap-Pelé on November 19th.

The Tree of Hope Lighting ceremonies for the three communities will take place on Thursday, November 9th at 6:30 pm at the Multifonctionnal Centre and in the Pascal Poirier Park in Shediac, on Thursday, November 16th at 6 pm in front of the Père-Edgar-T.-LeBlanc School in Grand-Barachois for Beaubassin-est, and on Sunday, November 19th at 6:30 pm in the Tédiche Park in Cap-Pelé.

Funds will also be raised at the Annual Gala of Hope which will be presented on Saturday, November 18th at 7 pm at the Saint-André-LeBlanc Community Center. Other initiatives are also led by committee members or community groups, and all the money raised by the Trio BCS Tree of Hope Committee is for the Provincial Tree of Hope Campaign and will be presented at the Radiothon de l'Arbre de l'espoir de Radio-Canada on Friday, November 24th at the New Brunswick Community College in Dieppe.
